→ project: echoes

(2023 - 2024)

‘Echoes’ is an exploration of identity through self-portraiture. This series delves into the fluid nature of self-perception, using a range of photographic techniques to deconstruct and reimagine the artist's face.

Each image in this collection serves as a visual metaphor for the often contradictory nature of identity and the masks we wear in different contexts. They challenge the idea of a fixed self, instead suggesting a constantly shifting landscape of personality and perception.

‘Echoes’ draws inspiration from various artistic movements - from the interplay of light and shadow in film noir to the psychological depth of expressionist art, and from the disorienting effects of cubist perspectives to the emotive power of colour field painting. By manipulating light, shadow, perspective, and colour, the artist creates a series of portraits that are simultaneously intimate and alienating, familiar yet otherworldly.
